This little wand packs A LOT of punch. Those of you who have the Magic Wand Original (formerly Hitachi Magic Wand) know how powerful it is. Since the Magic Wand is fairly well-known – and the only other wand I have – I’ll use it for comparison.

Both of these wands are plug-in toys, so they have quite a bit of power. I was already about to buy the PalmPower when the salesperson told me it “has as much power as the Hitachi” and I was very intrigued. In a side-by-side comparison, I have to say the Magic Wand is still a bit more powerful.

Things I like:

There is a lot I like about this wand. It has a long and fairly light cord, so it’s not too intrusive and it can go fairly far. I’m not restricted to just the side of the bed where the plug is with this one.

PalmPower sex toy review

It really does live up to its name and fits nicely in my palm. It’s not cumbersome and doesn’t start to feel too weighty after a while. I didn’t have to keep switching hands to give my wrist or arm a break.

The top is removable and it has four other heads you can use – g-spot stimulator, g-spot and clitoral stimulator, and two that are marketed as “body”. I found the rabbit ear one was good for my nipples, and the antenna one was a good one to use on Mr as it perfectly hugged him from under his balls and across his perineum. (I may try the body attachments on my neck next time I have a headache. Yes, we wash our toys well after every use.)

PalmPower and accessories

There is one button, so no fumbling with controls. You push and hold the button to strengthen the vibrations. Let go and push the button again and it goes off. And as I said, this little toy has a lot of power. Just when you think you’re at the peak of power, it keeps going – and going. It’s got a good rumble to it.

Things I don’t like:

This is also part of my “things I like”. The one button. Because there is only one button, the control only allows you to ramp up the power. I would like to see a see-saw sort of button where I could ramp up or down as I please. As it is now, I have to turn it off for a second, start from the lowest vibration and work my way up again.

It is a bit noisy. I’m not sure if it’s just the one I have or if all PalmPowers are like mine, but something almost sounds a bit loose on the lower vibrations. The sound stops as the vibrations increase.

My partner and I have played with this toy a bit and really do enjoy it together. It’s a great toy for partner use and alone. Today, for example, I simply laid back and let Mr do whatever he wanted to me. He chose the PalmPower with the original head. He was gentle and teasing at first, and I was really enjoying. Then he ramped it up and stayed steady. I tried as hard as I could not to come because I was enjoying things as they were (and it’s fun for us to make the other come when they’re trying not to). It didn’t take long and I came HARD. Three times.

This evening I used this wand once more. I wanted to use some of the attachments again so I could sit down and write this review with the experience nice and fresh in my mind. Oh, the things I do for you.

I chose to start with the g-spot and clit attachment first (the one that looks like a leaf). I lubed it up, placed it against my clit and vaginal opening, and ramped it right up. I came in 20 seconds! I went from zero to orgasm in 20 seconds flat. It’s that good. I do find I need more power when using any of the attachments other than the original.

I didn’t want to leave it at just that, so I switched attachments and gave the g-spot one a whirl. I lubed it up well, slipped it inside me, the head against my clit and the hook vibrating gently, pressing against my g-spot, and I came again in what must have been less than a minute.

So, if I don’t have a wand yet, which should I choose?! It’s really like asking me which child I love more. I love them both!

As far as which one to start with if you’re going to buy one, well, that depends. The Magic Wand does have some more power to it, but it’s also heavier (which, depending on what you’re after can be a pro or con for you). The PalmPower cord is longer, which is a plus, it fits nicely in your hand, and it has attachments you can purchase separately.

I guess if I absolutely had to choose just one, I would go with the PalmPower. There. Happy? I chose one. (Now I feel as if I should go give my Magic Wand some loving…)

Whether you think the PalmPower is for you or the Magic Wand, I do highly recommend purchasing through a sex-positive, good quality shop (such as Good for Her and Come as You Are – both in Toronto.) *Non-affiliate links. I just love the stores.
